NEW HAVEN, CONN. – The Brown men's soccer team lost to Yale 2-0 Saturday evening. The loss snaps the Bears' three-game winning streak.
"I thought the players brought a huge amount of toughness to a very physical and hotly contested Ivy League matchup tonight," head coach Pat Laughlin said. "I felt like we did a very good job, had a lot of the ball, had some very good chances and were competitive the entire night. Looking forward to playing our final Ivy League match at home next Saturday."
The first half was a quiet one for both sides. Yale managed five shots and three corners, while Brown had three and two respectively. Each side only had one of their shots go on goal with the Bears' coming in the 30th minute off the head of Derek Waleffe.
Despite a couple chances for the Bears to start the second half, it was the Bulldogs who broke the scoreless tie. In the 56th minute, Yale sent a cross into the box and was able to head it home.
Yale would double its lead in the 63rd minute when Kahveh Zahiroleslam scored his second of the day.
With just four seconds remaining in the game, Charlie Adams recorded his first collegiate goal, but it was too late to mount a true comeback. Michael Chung picked up an assist on the play.
On the night, shots ended up being even at 10 and four on goal for both sides. Brown earned six corners to Yale's four.
The Bears will wrap up the season next Saturday, Nov. 13 at 5p.m. at home when they host Dartmouth.
