Women's Basketball opens home slate with games against Central Conn. St. and Wagner

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown Women's Basketball steps on to its home court at the Pizzitola Sports Center for the first time this season with games against Central Connecticut State on Thursday (Nov. 18) and Wagner on Saturday (Nov. 20).
The game against Central Connecticut begins at 6 p.m. and the matchup against Wagner will begin at 4 p.m. Both games will be streamed on ESPN+.
The first 200 fans at the Central Connecticut game will receive a t-shirt.

ABOUT BROWN (1-2)
- Brown picked up its first win of the year with a hard-fought 63-60 win over Bryant. In a game that featured 13 lead changes and five ties, Brown earned the win stopping Bryant on the Bulldogs' last possession.
- Kyla Jones led the Bears in scoring with 16 points, reaching double-figures for the second time this season. Jones filled up the stat sheet with three rebounds, two assists, four steals and one block.
- Isabella Mauricio was second on the team with 14 points, going 6-for-9 from the field and 2-for-5 from three, hitting two big fourth quarter threes.
- Charlotte Jewell scored 12 points and picked up two steals. Jewell was 4-for-5 from the floor and a perfect 4-for-4 from the free throw line.
- After missing their first 20 threes against Sacred Heart, Brown went 4-for-12 from three-point range against the Bulldogs.
- Making her first start of the season, Amanda Latkany scored eight points, pulled down a team-high seven rebounds, grabbed three steals and added a block and an assist. Latkany's block on a three-point shot with less than five seconds left in the game helped secure the win for the Bears.
- Brown used a quick start, turning defense into offense with 11 steals in the first 12 minutes of the game. In total, Brown finished with 15 steals and forced 25 turnovers, turning those turnovers into 25 points.
- Brown had a season-high 36 points in the paint. The layups helped Brown shoot over 50 percent from the floor for the first time this season.
- Central Connecticut State is 0-2 on the season with losses to UMass and Quinnipiac to start the season.
- The Blue Devils are averaging 50.0 points per game and hitting just 30.7 percent of their field goals. CCSU is struggling from deep, shooting just 21.8 percent from behind the arc.
- Rebounding has been an issue for CCSU, losing the battle on the boards by an average of 17 per game.
- Senior Ashley Berube is leading the team with 15.5 points per game. Forever Toppin is second on the team at 8.0 points per game.
- Brown has won the last two meetings with Central Connecticut State, winning the last meeting 68-63 on Nov. 6, 2018 in Providence.
- Wagner is 1-0 on the season and will play at Saint Peter's on Wednesday (Nov. 17) before taking on the Bears. Wagner beat NJIT 61-49 in the season opener for the Seahawks.
- Wagner shot 39.6 percent from the floor against NJIT and hit just 28.6 percent from three in the game against the Highlanders.
- Kem Nwabudu (13), Zhaneia Thybulle (12) and Marisa Sanchez-Henry (10) all finished in double figures against NJIT.
- Thybulle filled the stat sheet with eight rebounds, six assists and three steals.
- The only meeting between Brown and Wagner took place on Dec. 4, 1993 with Brown winning the matchup 76-48.
