Volleyball hosts Yale on Friday as Ivy League play continues

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown volleyball begins the second half of the Ivy League schedule taking on Yale at home on Friday (Oct. 22). The match against the Bulldogs will begin at 7 p.m. at the Pizzitola Sports Center.
For those who cannot attend the match, it will be streamed on ESPN+.
Brown (14-3, 7-0 Ivy) sits on top of the Ivy League after the first half of the season. The 7-0 record is tied for the best start in league play in program history, tied for when the Bears went 7-0 in Ivy League play in 1998. Brown has won its last ten games, one win shy of tying the longest winning streak in school history, also set during the 1998 season.

SCOUTING BROWN
- Brown beat Princeton to snap a 13-match losing streak to the Tigers in its last match. The win put Brown on top of the Ivy League standings and the Bears are the lone undefeated team in league play.
- Sophia Miller was named Ivy League Player of the Week for the third time this season after leading Brown's offense in wins against Penn and Princeton. Miller leads the way with the most Player of the Week awards this year and Brown has taken home the award in four of the seven weeks this season.
- Cierra Jenkins won Ivy League Rookie of the Week for the first time this year. Jenkins averaged 12.00 assists per set and dished out a career-high 53 assists in the win over Princeton. The 53 assists were the most by a Bear since September, 2018. Jenkins is the second Bear to win Rookie of the Week.
- After the win over Princeton, Brown now sits in second in the league, hitting .250 as a team. Beau Vanderlaan leads all players in the Ivy League with a .395 hitting percentage.
- On defense, Brown is third in the league, allowing opponents to hit .180 on the season. Brown leads the league with 2.33 blocks per set.
- Victoria Vo leads a backline defense that sits fourth in the league with 15.86. Vo is second in the league with 4.75 digs per set.
SCOUTING YALE
- Yale is tied for third in the league with Harvard with a 4-3 record in league play. The Bulldogs are 11-5 overall.
- Yale is coming into the weekend after beating Penn in its last game.
- The Bulldogs boast the third best hitting offense in the Ivy (.232) and is second in the league in opponent hitting percentage (.176).
- Maile Somera is third in the league in digs per set at 4.64.
- Bonnie Bostic is the leader on offense for the Bulldogs with 2.94 kills per set.
