Providence, R.I. - The 13th-ranked Brown women's squash team stepped up its game against 12th-ranked Williams, upsetting the Ephs by an 8-1 score at the Kate Brodsky Squash Pavilion Tuesday evening.
"The team are very happy with the overall performance against Williams, who were ranked one place above us going into the match," said head coach Stuart leGassick. "To come away with an 8-1 win was close to remarkable! The team are excited to welcome Dartmouth to the Pizzitola on Sunday at 2 PM. This win has given the team a lot of confidence."
The Bears captured the first four matches at the top of the ladder with junior Alexa Jacobs winning 3-0 at number one, followed by senior Hannah Seckendorf, 3-1, at two, sophomore Abagain Dichter, 3-1, at three and freshman Danielle Benstock, 3-0, at four.
Brown continued its success at number six with sophomore Isabella Kearns rallying from a 2-1 deficit to capture the match, 3-2. Junior Catherine Kimmel and sophomore Sara Syed each won, 3-0, at eight and nine, respectively.
The Bears will play #1 Harvard on Friday evening in Cambridge and come home for a match-up with #9 Dartmouth on Sunday, February 9, starting at 2:00 pm at the Kate Brodsky Squash Pavilion.
