Men’s Tennis Tops Boston College, 4-3

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Brown men's tennis team defeated Boston College, 4-3, on Tuesday night at the Pizzitola Sports Center. After falling in the doubles round, the Bears rattled off four-consecutive wins in singles play to take the victory.
"In my four seasons at Brown, this was far and away the toughest Boston College team we have faced," said head coach Tim Gray. "We've been talking about trying to recognize opportunities to dominate when we get them and we did exactly that in the first four singles spots. We were behind the eight ball after the doubles, but senior Peter Litsky and junior Teddy van Eck came out smoking and they helped us steal back the momentum. This was a really solid team effort today."
After Boston College won the opening doubles match (third doubles), senior Peter Litsky (St. Petersburg, Fla.) and junior Teddy van Eck (Rye, N.Y.) knotted up the round with a 6-4 victory in the second spot. The Eagles would edge the Bears in first doubles to decide the point, 7-6 (5).
Brown came back in singles and put the match out of reach by winning four-straight matches. Litsky first recorded a 6-2, 6-0 win in second singles and was followed by his doubles partner van Eck in the fourth spot, who posted a 6-0, 6-3 victory. Junior Ching Lam (Sai Kung, Hong Kong) next went 6-2, 6-4 in his third singles match while senior Jacob Walker (Bethesda, Md.) sealed the win for Brown in the top spot with a 6-4, 6-4 showing.
The Bears will remain at home and next host William & Mary on Sunday, Feb. 23 at 10:00 a.m.
