PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Ijeoma Uche (Lawrenceville, Ga.) set a new school record in the long jump as the Brown men's and women's track & field teams competed at the Yale Giegengack Invitational and wrapped up the Boston University Valentine Invitational on Saturday.
Â
"All in all, a very successful weekend," said head coach Tim Springfield. "Two school records and a lot of other great performances. Most importantly, key athletes took the steps necessary to position themselves for success as we head into Heps."

Yale Giegengack Invitational
Uche broke her own school record in the long jump for the program's second record of the weekend after the women's 4x400 relay set the all-time mark on Friday. Uche topped the field with a leap of 20-6.5 for fourth best in Ivy history, besting her previous record of 20-3 set last season, and is now ranked 15th in the nation.
Â
On the men's side, rookie Zach Love (Fort Lee, N.J.) captured first place in the long jump with a leap mark of 23-8.25, which matched his personal best and the eighth all-time record at Brown.
Â
Obi Ifediora (Verona, Wis.) won the 200 meters at 22.22 and Bretram Rogers (Grand Prairie, Texas) topped the 60-meter hurdles in a time of 8.03. Zion Lewis (Canton, Ga.) won the 60 meters at 7.64
Â
"It is quite evident that the pieces are starting to fall into place as a team," said assistant coach Ken Hunt. "This could not happen at a better time as we are days away from tapering for Heps! To compete this weekend and finish with so many personal bests, school records, and high marks nationally is a testament to the type of athletes we have representing Brown and the Ivy League. It is absolutely exciting, and this indoor season is shaping up to be something very special."
