
Cross Country Teams, Butler Earn All-Academic Honors

NEW ORLEANS – The Brown men's and women's cross country teams, as well as junior Hannah Butler (Dewitt, N.Y.), were recently honored by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) for academic excellence during the fall semester.
Both the men's and women's programs were honored as 2019 All-Academic teams by the USTFCCCA. In order to qualify for All-Academic distinction, teams must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, including the most recent grading period. The men's team was one of 191 programs to earn All-Academic recognition on the Division I level, while the women's squad was one of 237 teams on the list.
In addition, Butler collected individual All-Academic honors for her accomplishments on the course and in the classroom this past semester. In order to qualify for All-Academic distinction, student athletes must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.25 on a 4.0 scale and finish in the top-25 (or 10 percent) at the NCAA Regional Championships or as an All-American at the NCAA Championships.
Butler, who also earned Academic All-Ivy honors, finished third at the NCAA Regional to qualify for the national championship. Butler was named All-Region and also earned Second Team All-Ivy accolades.
