
Women’s Soccer’s Rosen Wins Gold with USA at European Maccabi Games

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown University women's soccer rising sophomore Rebecca Rosen won gold with the United States at the 15th European Maccabi Games held in Budapest, Hungary competing from July 31 to August 4.
The 2018 Ivy League Rookie of the Year and a native of Port Washington, N.Y., Rosen helped the U.S. post a 4-0 record at the tournament and defeat Hungary 6-0 in the championship game on Sunday. During the group stage, the U.S. defeated Hungary (6-0), Great Britain (13-0), and Germany (8-0), concluding the tournament with 33-0 goal differential.
As a rookie for the Bears last fall, Rosen earned Second Team All-Ivy honors and the team's Arlene Gorton '52 Rookie of the Year Award alongside Ivy League Rookie of the Year accolades. She totaled 10 points on the year with four goals and two assists, ranking third in the Ivy League in both points (eight) and goals (three) in conference play.
The European Maccabi Games are a high-level athletic competition for Jewish athletes all over the world aimed at connecting Jews from the diaspora. They are hosted by the European Maccabi Confederation and conducted in cooperation with Maccabi World Union. They are held every four years, two years after the Maccabiah is held.
Maccabi USA brought a team of over 200 athletes to Budapest to join 2,000 other Jewish athletes from 29 countries, participating in 22 different sports.
