Brown Men’s Basketball Heads To Spain for 10-Day Trip

Providence, R.I. – Head coach Mike Martin and the Brown men's basketball team is starting their preseason early with a 10-day trip to Spain with games against various professional teams throughout the trip, including one game in Madrid and Valencia and two games in Barcelona.
The Bears are traveling all returning players and the coaching staff, and arrived in Spain today, August 22, for an educational and competitive trip that includes tours in each of the three cities.
"Our players and coaching staff are really looking forward to this opportunity," said Martin. "I think it will be so valuable in so many ways, and we are grateful that we have this experience in front of us."
In Madrid, the squad will visit Plaza Mayor, Plaza de Espana, and the Church of Santo Tome, founded in the 12thcentury, before playing Zentro Basket Madrid on Saturday, August 24.
Brown heads to Valencia for a tour of Valencia Old Town and stops at the Central Market, Silk Exchange and Cabanyal Beach, with a match-up against Valencia Basket on Monday, August 26.
Martin's squad heads to Barcelona for games against Mataro Parc Boet on August 28 and FC Barcelona on August 29. In between, the Bears will tour the neighborhood around its hotel, located on Passeig de Gracia, Barcelona's most elegant avenue and a showcase of twentieth century architecture. The Gothic Quarter, La Sagrada Familia, and a tour of the Olympic Stadium are also on the docket before returning to the United States on August 31.
Last year's Brown squad posted a 20-12 record and featured All-Ivy forward Tamenang Choh '21, along with starters Brandon Anderson '20 and Zach Hunsaker '20.
