PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Rising seniors Justine Gaziano and Haley Green and rising junior Dominique Leonidas are set to serve Brown University women's basketball as tri-captains during the 2019-20 season, Brown head coach Sarah Behn announced on Tuesday.
A three-time All-Ivy selection, Gaziano (Natick, Mass.) ranks sixth in career points (1,388), sixth in career 3-pointers made (149), sixth in career free throws made (249), and ninth in career field goals made (495) in the Brown record books. She enters the 2019-20 season with 68 double-figure scoring games, 30 games with 20 or more points, and four games with 30 or more points. This past season, she ranked second in the Ivy League in points per game (17.5) and stood second on Brown's single-season points list with 526 points.
Green (Salem, Va.) has earned the team's Most Improved Player Award in each of the last two seasons. This past winter, she played in all 30 games, one of four Bears to do so, and made eight starts. For the year, she averaged 12.7 minutes, 3.0 points, and 3.2 rebounds per game. Green scored a career-high 15 points on 5-of-5 field goals and 5-of-7 free throws at Chicago State (Dec. 30).
Leonidas (Stone Mountain, Ga.) missed the majority of this past season due to injury but still played in 10 games with five starts averaging 18.0 minutes, 3.5 points, 2.1 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game. As a freshman, she won the team's Coaches' Award and gained Ivy League Rookie of the Week on Feb. 19. Leonidas posted 17.6 minutes, 4.1 points, 2.5 assists, and 2.2 rebounds per game during the 2017-18 season.
The trio helped the Bears win the Ocean State Tip-Off Tournament in 2017-18 while Gaziano and Green helped Brown earn berths in the Ivy League Tournament and Women's Basketball Invitational in 2016-17.
