
Women’s Water Polo’s Czajka, Burns Earn CWPA Weekly Honors

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown University women's water polo freshman utility Dagmara Czajka has earned CWPA Player of the Week and CWPA Rookie of the Week, and junior goalkeeper Lauren Burns has gained CWPA Defensive Player of the Week, the Collegiate Water Polo Association announced on Monday.
The duo helped the Bears earn a 6-4 win over No. 22 Marist in their regular season finale on Saturday.
Czajka (San Diego, Calif.) totaled two goals, two assists, two steals, and four field blocks in the win over Marist. She scored two of Brown's first four goals and assisted on the Bears' game-winning goal. Her four field blocks helped the Bears limit the Red Foxes to two goals in each half.
Burns (Long Grove, Ill.) posted 10 saves on a .714 save percentage in the victory over the Red Foxes. Burns totaled her ninth double-figure save performance of the season, making four stops in the third quarter and turning aside a 5-meter penalty shot as part of the effort. She earned CWPA Defensive Player of the Week for the second time this year after collecting the award on Mar. 26.
Next, No. 5 seed Brown hosts No. 4 seed and No. 16 ranked Harvard in the first round of the CWPA Championship on Friday, Apr. 26 at 4:00 p.m. The Bears are hosting all 10 games of the tournament at the Katherine Moran Coleman Aquatics Center from Apr. 26-28.
