PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Senior guard Shayna Mehta earned Most Valuable Player accolades for the third straight season as Brown University women's basketball announced its team awards and honored its seniors at its season wrap-up event on Sunday afternoon at Dave & Buster's in the Providence Place Mall.
Mehta (San Francisco, Calif.) finished her career as Brown's all-time leader in career 3-pointers made (261) and as the Bears' second all-time leading scorer (1,785 points). She set Brown's single-season steals record (96) as a senior, breaking a record from 1985. Over her career, she earned All-Ivy honors three times and Academic All-Ivy laurels twice.
Junior center Haley Green (Salem, Va.) won the team's Most Improved Player Award for the second straight season. This past winter, she played in all 30 games – one of four Bears to do so – and made eight starts. She scored a career-high 15 points on 5-of-5 field goals and 5-of-7 free throws at Chicago State (Dec. 30).
Freshman forward Alana Kelley (Phoenix, Ariz.) and freshman guard Maddie Mullin (Wellesley, Mass.) shared the team's Coaches Award.
Brown's four seniors – Mehta, Mary Butler (Bangor, Maine), Erika Steeves (Montreal, Quebec), and Taylor Will (Arlington Heights, Ill.) – earned their white letter sweaters, the traditional gift bestowed upon Brown's seniors. The group finished as Brown's highest scoring class in program history with 4,268 points.
The Bears' five freshmen – Kelley, Mullin, Nina Mehta (San Francisco, Calif.), Ashley Ducharme (Milton, Mass.), and Traiva Breedlove (Rochester, N.Y.) – collected their brown letter sweaters, the traditional gift presented to the Bears' first-year student-athletes.

Co-Coaches Award: Maddie Mullin '22 (Wellesley, Mass.)
