
Cranford, Cline Earn Brown Student-Athlete of the Week Honors

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Softball sophomore catcher Madi Cranford and men's swimming & diving junior Cody Cline have earned Brown University Athletics Student-Athlete of the Week honors for the week of Feb. 25 to Mar. 3, Brown announced on Tuesday.

Madi Cranford, Softball, Sophomore, Escondido, Calif.
Sophomore catcher Madi Cranford posted an .875 batting average (7-for-8), 1.125 slugging percentage, and .923 on-base percentage last week, while adding three RBIs, two doubles, four walks, and a run. In the Bears' season opening weekend, the Escondido, Calif., native went 3-for-3 with an RBI, a double, a walk, and a hit-by-pitch against Georgetown, finished 2-for-3 vs. St. Joseph's, and posted two RBIs and a double vs. Howard. Cranford tallied seven hits on the weekend after totaling eight hits over her entire rookie season.

Cody Cline, Men's Swimming & Diving, Junior, Wellington, Fla.
Junior Cody Cline placed second in the 50 freestyle, fifth in the 100 freestyle, and ninth in the 200 freestyle to lead Brown at the Ivy League Swimming & Diving Championships last week. A native of Wellington, Fla., he broke school records in all three of his individual swims, including two of the oldest records in the books (Dan Ricketts, 2009 - 50 and 100 free). In addition, he was part of the second place 200 freestyle relay that broke the school record as well as three of the other record setting relays.
