Throughout the month of March, Brown Athletics will celebrate Women's History Month through a series of profiles. Over the course of the month, the Bears will recognize women who have made an impact on the university community and beyond.

Saranga Sangakkara '99, Women's Tennis
Saranga Sangakkara '99 is one of only a handful of Brown student-athletes all-time to have earned First Team All-Ivy honors in all four years of her career. In 1997, Sangakkara helped lead the Bears to an Ivy League championship, the second women's title in program history. The Bears went undefeated in conference play (7-0) and 19-3 overall during the championship season. In her senior season, Sangakkara placed second in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Eastern Region Tennis Championship and advanced to the ITA National Tournament. A 2016 inductee into the Brown Athletic Hall of Fame, Sangakkara was a two-time Second Team All-Ivy honoree in doubles (1996 and 1998) and an Academic All-Ivy selection (1998). In the Brown record books, Sangakkara ranks fourth in career singles wins (84) and sixth in career combined wins (84 singles-56 doubles-140 combined). At the time of her graduation, Sangakkara stood first in both singles wins and combined wins.
