
Women’s Lacrosse Picked Fifth in the Ivy League Preseason Poll

PRINCETON, N.J. – The Brown women's lacrosse team was selected to finish fifth in the 2019 Ivy League Women's Lacrosse Preseason Media Poll, the conference office announced on Thursday.

Defending league champion Princeton took the top spot in the poll with 12 first-place votes and 124 total points. Penn followed in second with four first-place votes and 115 total points while Dartmouth (96 points) and Cornell (68 points) rounded out the top half of the poll. Brown (50), Harvard (47), Columbia (42) and Yale (34) filled out the remainder in the fifth through eighth slots, respectively.
The Bears return their top-five scorers from last season, including goal and point leader Risa Mosenthal, who recorded 55 goals and nine assists for 64 points in her rookie campaign. Junior Emma DeGennaro was second in scoring with 32 goals and 18 assists for 50 points while senior Hafsa Moinuddin was third with 24 goals and 20 assists for 44 points. Mosenthal, DeGennaro and senior Caroline Zaffino were named Second Team All-Ivy while Moinuddin earned Honorable Mention honors in 2018.
Brown opens its season with four-consecutive road games, starting with a close trip to Hamden, Conn. on Saturday, Feb. 16 to face Quinnipiac at 1:00 p.m. The Bears' first home game will be against in-state rival Bryant on Wednesday, March 6 at 6:00 p.m.
This year's Ivy League Tournament will be held at Columbia on Friday, May 3 and Sunday, May 5 at Rocco B. Commisso Stadium with the top four teams qualifying.
