QUEENSBURY, N.Y. – The No. 6 Brown ski team competed in two giant slalom races at West Mountain in the Castleton Carnival on Saturday, Feb. 2 and the slalom on Sunday, Feb. 3. Freshman Avery Vilandrie (Peacham, Vt.) was the top finisher for the Bears on the weekend with a fifth-place showing on Saturday.
"Everyone skied fairly smart and solid today," said head coach Alex Norden. "Everyone individually has things that they're working on, but the team result was what we wanted today, so we're very happy with that."
The Bears finished second on the first day with Vilandrie leading the way in fifth place (2:11.19) while freshman Maggie Beardsley (Sandy Hook, Conn.) was right behind her in sixth (2:11.31). Freshman Alexa Dannis (Hillsdale, N.Y.) finished in ninth place (2:12.82) while junior Becka Padgett (San Francisco, Calif.) came in 14th (2:15.96) to round out the top-20. Freshman Emi Ruth (Yarmouth, Maine) (2:37.20), senior Selin Ozulkulu (Monroe, Conn./Istanbul) (2:43.94) and freshman Rose Hall (New York, N.Y.) (2:47.29) also completed the race.
