ANDOVER, N.H. – The No. 6 Brown ski team closed out the 2019 regular season with two second-place finishes in slalom races at Proctor/Blackwater Academy on Saturday, Feb. 9 and Sunday, Feb. 10.
"The team knew they had to ski solid and balanced this weekend to move onto the post season," said head coach Alex Norden. "They executed as a team very well. There's more room in the tank I believe, but we're excited to show everyone our potential in two weeks."
Freshman Alexa Dannis (Hillsdale, N.Y.) paced the team on day one with a fourth place finish with a time of 1:36.13, which was the second fastest time for a collegiate racer. Freshman Avery Vilandrie (Peacham, Vt.) (1:42.42, 17th), freshman Maggie Beardsley (Sandy Hook, Conn.) (1:45.37, 20th) and junior Becka Padgett (San Francisco, Calif.) (1:46.11, 22nd) rounded out the top-25. Freshman Emi Ruth (Yarmouth, Maine) (2:00.87) and senior Selin Ozulkulu (Monroe, Conn./Istanbul) (2:22.49) also completed the race.
Vilandrie was the Bears' top finisher on Sunday with a 10th place showing (1:37.50) and was second collegiately. Beardsley (1:44.72) edged Padgett (1:45.01) by two places in 29th while Ozulkulu (2:26.61) also finished both runs.

Brown will next compete at the USCSA/ECSC Regionals at Sugarloaf Mountain in Carrabassett Valley, Maine Saturday, Feb. 23 through Sunday, Feb. 24.
