
Women’s Soccer’s Raphino Garners ECAC Rookie of the Year Accolades

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown University women's soccer freshman forward Brittany Raphino has earned ECAC Rookie of the Year accolades, following a year in which she also won the Ivy League Rookie of the Year award, the Eastern College Athletic Conference announced on Thursday.
A native of Randolph, Mass., Raphino gained First Team All-Ivy honors unanimously and collected First Team All-East Region laurels in addition to her pair of Rookie of the Year awards.
For the season, she ranked sixth in the Ivy League in points (19), second in goals (eight), first in game-winning goals (three), third in shots (50), and third in shots on goal (23), while standing first in goals (four), second in points (nine), second in game winners (two), second in shots (22), and first in shots on goal (15) in Ivy play only.
Raphino scored the decisive penalty kick in the shootout against Monmouth (Nov. 16) in the first round of the NCAA Championship. She netted a season-high three goals vs. Fairfield (Sept. 18) and registered two goals – including the game winner and a penalty kick goal – at Cornell (Oct. 26).
In 2019, the Bears posted an overall record of 14-2-3, while registering an undefeated 6-0-1 mark in Ivy League play, finishing the year unbeaten in conference play for the first time since 1994. Brown notched an 11-0-1 mark at home, including an 11-0-0 record during the regular season.
Brown won its 13th Ivy League title in program history, tied for the most in conference history, while making its seventh all-time appearance in the NCAA Championship. The Bears advanced to the second round of the NCAA tournament after topping Monmouth in a penalty kick shootout, 4-1.
In the final national rankings, Brown stood at No. 11 in the Top Drawer Soccer poll, No. 13 in the NCAA RPI, and No. 23 in the United Soccer Coaches poll.
