Brandon Anderson Scores Career High 32 Points, Including His 1,000th Career Point, In Brown’s 75-68 Win Over Canisius

Providence, R.I. - Senior Brandon Anderson (Mahwah, NJ) scored a career high 32 points, including his 1,000thcareer point, to lead Brown (2-0) to a 75-68 non-league win over Canisius (0-1) Saturday afternoon at the Pizzitola Sports Center.
"I'm really proud of the team, especially these two guys (Brandon Anderson and Zach Hunsaker)," said Brown head coach Mike Martin. "It wasn't pretty, but the run at the beginning of the second half really helped."
"Congratulations to Brandon on his 1,000thpoint. He's been unbelievable all pre-season, in our exhibition and our two games."
In a second half of wide swings, Canisius cut a 19-point Brown second half lead (51-32) to just three points, 61-58, with 2:10 remaining on two free throws by Jacco Fritz.
Brown took control and extended its lead to 66-58 on two free throws by Anderson, two more by senior Zach Hunsaker (North Salt Lake City, UT), and another by sophomore David Mitchell (Roxbury, MA). The Bears largest lead down the stretch was nine points, 68-59, on two Anderson free throws.
Anderson's 32 points came on 8-of-16 shooting from the field and 12-of-14 shooting from the free throw line. He hit a career high four treys (4-9), handed out five assists and made a career high four steals. He now has 1,017 career points, 19th best in Brown basketball history.
Bears' junior Tamenang Choh (Lowell, MA) posted his second straight double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds. Hunsaker also scored in double figures with 15 points.
Malik Johnson paced Canisius with 24 points on 7-of 12 shooting from the field and perfect 8-of-8 shooting from the free throw line. Corey Brown added 10 points for the Golden Griffins.
Brown held a 31-29 lead at the half with balanced scoring, including seven points by Anderson.
Trailing 32-31 early in the second half, Brown broke the game open an 20-0 surge to pull ahead, 51-32, on layup by Anderson with 13:57 remaining.
The Golden Griffins clawed back in the game with a 26-3 spurt to trail, 58-54, on two free throws by Brown with 3:37 remaining. Anderson's trey stopped the run, giving the Bears a 61-54 lead.
Canisius answered and pulled to within three points, 61-58, on two Fritz free throws with 2:10 left on the clock.
Brown remains home to host Quinnipiac on Wednesday, November 13 at the Pizzitoila Sports Center. Tip-off is 7:00 pm on ESPN+ and WPRV AM 790 radio.
