
Carchio, Jallen Earn Brown Student-Athlete of the Week Honors

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Women's soccer senior midfielder Abby Carchio and men's ice hockey sophomore forward Justin Jallen have earned Brown University Athletics Student-Athlete of the Week honors for the week of Oct. 28 to Nov. 3, Brown announced on Monday.
Abby Carchio, Women's Soccer, Senior, Lakeville, Mass.
Senior midfielder Abby Carchio scored the game-winning goal in Brown's 1-0 (2OT) win over Penn as the Bears earned their first Ivy League title and NCAA Tournament berth since 1994. In the 110th minute, the Lakeville, Mass., native stepped to the penalty spot and drove a penalty kick into the right side of the net. Carchio netted her third goal – and first game-winning goal – of the season. She now has 16 career goals and five career game-winning goals, while improving to 3-for-3 on penalty kicks in her career. Brown has tied a program record with 13 wins on the year, matching the teams from 1977, 1984, and 2000. The Bears have now posted six Ivy wins for the seventh time in program history and for the first time since 1994.
Justin Jallen, Men's Ice Hockey, Sophomore, St. Paul, Minn.
Sophomore forward Justin Jallen scored three goals to lead Brown to a 5-1 win over Yale in its home opener on Saturday at Meehan Auditorium. A native of St. Paul, Minn., Jallen netted a goal in each period as part of his first career hat trick. He scored a pair of goals on the power play as the Bears tallied four power-play goals on the evening. His goals staked the Bears to leads of 1-0 in the first period, 2-1 in the second period, and 4-1 in the third period.
