
Matsushima, Hayes Earn Brown Student-Athlete of the Week Honors

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Women's swimming & diving freshman Sage Matsushima and men's swimming & diving sophomore Ben Hayes have earned Brown University Athletics Student-Athlete of the Week honors for the week of Nov. 18-24, Brown announced on Monday.
Sage Matsushima, Women's Swimming & Diving, Freshman, Huntington Beach, Calif.
Freshman swimmer Sage Matsushima tallied two individual victories alongside a relay win as Brown topped Connecticut, 190.5 to 190.5, on Saturday in its home opener at the Katherine Moran Coleman Aquatics Center. A native of Huntington Beach, Calif., Matsushima won the 100 backstroke (56.42) and the 100 butterfly (55.72), while helping the Bears capture first place in the 200 medley relay (1:43.35).
Ben Hayes, Men's Swimming & Diving, Sophomore, River Hills, Wis.
Sophomore swimmer Ben Hayes won three individual races as Brown bested Connecticut, 198-102, in its home opener on Saturday at the Katherine Moran Coleman Aquatics Center. A native of River Hills, Wis., Hayes claimed first place in the 100 breast (56.75), 200 breast (2:02.18), and 400 individual medley (3:56.71).
