PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The Brown men's swimming & diving team was defeated by Penn, 157-143, on Saturday at Sheerr Pool. Senior Joon Sung (Los Angeles, Calif.) highlighted the day for the Bears with two individual victories (100 backstroke and 100 freestyle).
"Overall we swam well, but lost too many close touches that ended up being the difference in the meet," said head coach Kevin Norman. "When you're on the road competing against a team like Penn, you can't afford to lose those close races. We'll learn from this, recharge, and get ready for our home opener next weekend against UConn."
The Bears opened the day by winning the 200 medley relay in 1:29.73, with Sung, freshman Vincent Huang (League City, Texas), sophomore I.I. Qiao (Naperville, Ill.) and senior Alex Smilenov (Katy, Texas) swimming to the time.
