
Raphino, Atwell Earn Brown Student-Athlete of the Week Honors

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Women's soccer freshman forward Brittany Raphino and men's water polo freshman attacker Cole Atwell have earned Brown University Athletics Student-Athlete of the Week honors for the week of Oct. 14-20, Brown announced on Monday.

Freshman forward Brittany Raphino scored the Bears' final goal in Brown's 4-2 win at Harvard as the Bears took over sole possession of first place in the Ivy League standings. A native of Randolph, Mas., Raphino – recently ranked the No. 24 freshman in the nation according to Top Drawer Soccer – notched her fifth goal of the year and second goal in Ivy play. Brown snapped a seven-match win streak for Harvard and became the first team to score on the Crimson in Ivy League play this season. Continuing their best season since 1984 (10-1-1) and best Ivy start since 1994 (4-0-0), the Bears earned back-to-back road victories at Harvard for the first time since claiming consecutive road win over the Crimson in 1988 and 1990.
Cole Atwell, Men's Water Polo, Freshman, San Diego, Calif.
Freshman attacker Cole Atwell tallied 11 goals, four assists, four steals, and four ejections drawn last week as Brown went 4-0 at the Harvard Invitational, including two wins over ranked opponents. A native of San Diego, Calif., Atwell scored six goals alongside two field blocks and two ejections drawn in the Bears' 16-10 win over No. 15 George Washington. He netted three goals in Brown's 10-6 win over No. 17 Pomona-Pitzter, notched two goals and two steals in a 12-9 win over La Salle, and distributed three assists in a 10-9 win over Wagner.
