Men’s Tennis Competes at ITA East Regional

PHILADELPHIA - The Brown men's tennis team concluded play at the ITA East Regional on Sunday at the Hecht/Hamlin Tennis Centers. Junior Ching Lam (Sai Kung, Hong Kong) and sophomore Roger Chou (Austin, Texas) led the Bears, reaching the round of 32 in singles.
Brown went 6-0 on the first day of the tournament, with Chou highlighting the singles action with a 6-3, 6-0 win over Fairfield's top player. Senior Peter Litsky (St. Petersburg, Fla.) (6-2, 6-4) and freshman Niraj Komatineni (Mason, Ohio) (3-6, 6-3, 7-5) also recorded singles victories while Lam and senior Jacob Walker (Bethesda, Md.) advanced with byes. In doubles play, junior Ben Collier (Darien, Conn.) and Litsky won their opening match, 8-1.
"It was a good first day in less than ideal weather conditions, but our guys got some great matches under their belt and we showed a lot of confidence to build towards the following days," said head coach Tim Gray.
After an 8-1 win over 16th seeded Buffalo on Saturday, Collier and Litsky fell to the fourth seed in doubles (Columbia), 8-4. Lam and Chou continued to advance in the singles draw, with Chou recording a 6-3, 6-3 win over Penn's Edoardo Graziani while Lam came back to take down Boston College's Chris Grasel (4-6, 7-6 (8), 6-1).
Lam and Chou were unable to make it to the round of 16, falling in their respective matches on Sunday.
The Bears next host the Bear Invitational on Friday, Nov. 8 through Sunday, Nov. 10 to close out the fall season.
