
Mehta, Brink Earn Brown Student-Athlete of the Week Honors

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Women's basketball senior guard Shayna Mehta and men's ice hockey senior forward Alex Brink have earned Brown University Athletics Student-Athlete of the Week honors for the week of Dec. 31 to Jan. 6, Brown announced on Monday.
Shayna Mehta, Women's Basketball, Senior, San Francisco, Calif.
Senior guard Shayna Mehta posted 15.3 points, 7.7 rebounds, 4.7 assists, and 4.3 steals per game last week over 39.7 minutes per game. A native of San Francisco, Calif., she came within one assist of a triple-double at Northern Illinois, registering 25 points, 10 rebounds, nine assists, five steals, and five made 3-pointers in a double-overtime game. A Biology concentrator, Mehta added 11 points, nine rebounds, and five steals in a win at Adelphi and notched 10 points, four boards, three assists, and three steals at Big Ten opponent Rutgers.
Alex Brink, Men's Ice Hockey, Senior, Hamilton, N.Y.
Senior forward Alex Brink helped lead Brown to a pair of wins over the weekend as the Bears captured the Three Rivers Classic in Pittsburgh. A native of Hamilton, N.Y., he had two goals and two assists for four points over the two games and was named MVP of the tournament. A Business, Entrepreneurship and Organizations concentrator, Brink had three points with a pair of goals in the championship game, including a shorthanded game winner, and also added an assist in the win over Robert Morris in the semifinal. He led all ECAC players with a +5 rating this week.
