CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The Brown women's tennis team was defeated by Boston College, 6-1, on Tuesday afternoon.
"In today's match, we had a lot of chances to take control of the match against a very solid BC team, but we are still at a point where our consistency of play and focus is not there yet," said head coach Lucie Schmidhauser. "I know we will continue to improve and grow from these experiences."
Freshman Alessandra Bianco (Chicago, Ill.) and junior Juliana Simon (Los Angeles, Calif.) opened the day with a 6-2 victory in third doubles but BC was able to take the next two matches, including a 7-5 showing in second doubles, to win the point.
The Eagles were then able to take the singles round with wins in the third, second, first, fourth and sixth spot. Freshman Ryan Peus (Palos Verdes, Calif.) won the first set of her fourth singles match, 6-4, but BC came back to take the next two sets, 6-3, 6-0. Brown's lone victory was posted by Simon, a 2-6, 3-0 showing in fifth singles.
The Bears will next compete against UConn on Saturday, Jan. 26 at 3:00 p.m. and Iowa on Sunday, Jan. 27 at 9:00 a.m. in Hanover, N.H.
