FRANCESTOWN, N.H. – The Brown ski team competed in two slalom races at Crotched Mountain on Friday, Jan. 18. Saturday's race at Pat's Peak was moved to Crotched Mountain on Friday with inclement weather in the forecast. Freshman Alexa Dannis (Hillsdale, N.Y.) led the Bears in the first race, winning the event with a combined time of 1:30.90.
Freshman Maggie Beardsley (Sandy Hook, Conn.) also finished 10th in the first race with a time of 1:39.39. Freshman Emi Ruth (Yarmouth, Maine) (1:53.57), senior Selin Ozulkulu (Monroe, Conn./Istanbul) (2:09.46) and freshman Rose Hall (New York, N.Y.) (2:18.03) all finished for Brown to help the team take fourth place.
"Alexa skied very well today," said head coach Alex Norden. "It was great to see her put two solid runs together. I think the team as a whole is starting to perform together as a unit, which is really exciting to see. We have work to do, but we have a solid foundation to build from."
Ozulkulu was the Bears' top finisher in the second slalom race, placing 34th with a time of 2:18.81. Hall was the other Brown skier to complete the event and did so in 2:28.34.

Brown next competed at Whiteface Mountain in Lake Placid, N.Y. on Saturday, Jan. 27 and Sunday, Jan. 27. The Bears will compete in the giant slalom on both days.Â
