Skiing Opens Season at Okemo

LUDLOW, Vt. – The Brown ski team opened the 2019 season at Okemo Mountain on Thursday, Jan. 10 with the slalom and Friday, Jan. 11 with the giant slalom.

On Thursday, freshman Alexa Dannis (Hillsdale, N.Y.) led the Bears in the slalom with a fifth-place finish with a combined time of 1:36.90. Junior Becka Padgett (San Francisco, Calif.) (1:42.23) and freshman Maggie Beardsley (Sandy Hook, Conn.) (1:43.28) followed in 13th and 16th, respectively.

Beardsley led the group on Friday by placing eighth (2:56.33) in the giant slalom while freshman Emi Ruth (Yarmouth, Maine) was the next Bears' finisher in 33rd (3:21.42).

Brown will next compete at Crotched Mountain on Friday, Jan. 18 in the giant slalom and then at Pat's Peak on Saturday, Jan. 19 for the slalom.
