PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Brown men's tennis team concluded the Brown Invitational at the Varsity Tennis Courts on Sunday afternoon. Boston College, Boston University, Bryant, Marist and Villanova competed in the three-day tournament, running from Friday, Sept. 28 to Sunday, Sept. 30. Senior Charles Tan (Austin, Texas) and freshman Roger Chou (Austin, Texas) teamed up to win the Flight I bracket.

The format for the tournament was teams of two players from each school. A team would receive a point for winning doubles and a point for each singles match won against the same opponent.

Four out of the five Brown teams advanced on the first day with sophomore Ching Lam (Sai Kung, Hong Kong)/junior Peter Litsky (St. Petersburg, Fla.) (Flight I) and freshman Robert Siniakowicz (West Windsor, N.J.)/sophomore Teddy van Eck (Rye, N.Y.) (Flight II) each winning their doubles match and both singles matches.

The duo of Tan and Chou reached the finals of Flight I with a 2-1 advancement on Saturday while Lam and Litsky moved to the third place match after falling 2-1. Tan and Chou earned the title of Flight I on Sunday by winning their doubles match 6-4 and Chou posting a 6-2, 6-1 singles victory.

After Saturday's results in Flight II, the Bears were set to meet each other in the final as sophomore Ben Collier (Darien, Conn.)/freshman Alan Arocho (Norridge, Ill.)/Tan advanced with a 2-1 win as well as the Siniakowicz/van Eck duo with a 3-0 victory. To avoid playing against each other, Siniakowicz/van Eck faced off against Christopher Gladen and John Oxner of Marist in the final on Sunday while the Collier/Arocho/Tan trio met Max Palmer and Conor Mullins of Boston College in the tournament finale. Both teams would go on to win their respective matches on Sunday by a score of 2-1.

Senior Austin Hearst (Mamaroneck, N.Y.) and junior Will Bader (New York, N.Y.) won their final match in Flight III on Sunday by a score of 2-1. The team won their doubles match 6-4 while Bader recorded a 6-7 (4), 6-0, 10-3 victory in his singles match.

The Bears next compete at the ITA East Regional Thursday, Oct. 11 through Tuesday, Oct. 16 at the Cordish Family Pavilion and Lenz Tennis Center on the campus of Princeton.
