Drew Powell Captures Medalist Honors, Bears 12th at Quechee Club Collegiate Challenge

Quechee, VT – Bears' sophomore Drew Powell (Bangor, ME) captured medalist honors and Brown opened its 2018 golf season with a 10^thplace finish with a 607 team score at the 36-hole Quechee Collegiate Challenge at the Quechee Club.

Powell shot 69-71—140 to finish in a three-way tied for first place individually. In a four-way playoff, Powell sank a birdie on the first playoff hole to claim the individual title.

Bucknell claimed the team title, coming from six place on day one to win by five shots at 583. Cornell and Princeton tied for second at 588, followed by Drexel (589), Harvard (599), Dartmouth (600), Holy Cross (601), Hartford (602), Siena (604), Brown (607), Fordham (610) and Bryant (615).

Junior Connor Riley came in at 71-83—154 for the Bears, while Sasha Lobel carded 78-77—155. Freshman Andy Zhou shot 76-79—155, junior Chuck Isgar finished at 158 on rounds of 78-80, and senior Bryan Hong completed the tournament at 159 (77-82).

Brown will compete in the Macdonald Cup at the Yale Golf Course next weekend, September 29-30.
