Stillwell Posts Fifth Straight Double-Double
DELAND, Fla. – Senior Sabrina Stillwell tallied her fifth straight double-double on 21 kills and 14 digs, but Brown University volleyball's comeback fell short against Bethune-Cookman in a 3-1 (27-25, 25-16, 17-25, 25-22) setback on Saturday afternoon at the Stetson Invitational.
Playing inside the Edmunds Center, the Bears (6-3) nearly rallied for their third come-from-behind win of the weekend before the Wildcats (7-5) closed out the match with a win in set four.
Yesterday, Brown came back from a 2-0 set deficit against Chicago State and a 1-0 set deficit vs. Stetson in a pair of wins. The Bears went 2-1 for the third time in as many tournament weekends to open the year.
Stillwell (Laguna Beach, Calif.) has now registered seven double-doubles on the season and has landed 20 or more kills in each of five matches. She led the Bears with 51 kills (3.92 per set) at the tournament.

In a first set that witnessed 14 ties and six lead changes, Bethune-Cookman emerged with a 27-25 win in extra points. Neither side held a lead larger than three points throughout the set. Brown gained set point at 24-23 before the Wildcats scored four of the set's final five points. Stillwell tallied eight kills and five digs in the frame.
Set two saw another 10 ties and six lead changes before B-CU took a 2-0 set lead with a 25-16 set win. The Bears remained within 16-15 of the Wildcats before Bethune-Cookman closed the set on a 9-1 run. Stillwell added four more kills in the period.
The Bears countered with a 25-17 victory in set three behind four kills from Ehlert and three kills apiece from Stillwell and Grover. Holding a 13-12 lead, Brown scored four straight points to extend its edge to 17-12. Brown did not allow its advantage to drop below three points the rest of the way and finished the set on a 4-0 run.
Despite six kills from Stillwell, Bethune-Cookman claimed the match with a 25-22 win in set four. Brown jumped out to a 10-3 lead before the Wildcats came back to knot the score at 18-18. The Bears stayed within 23-22 prior to B-CU winning the next two points.
