PRINCETON, N.J. – The Brown women's lacrosse team landed six selections on the 2018 All-Ivy teams with senior Marissa Hudgins (Syracuse, N.Y.) leading the group as a First Team honoree in a vote of the conference's eight head coaches, the Ivy League announced on Tuesday.
Freshman Risa Mosenthal (Campton, N.H.), sophomore Emma DeGennaro (Huntington, N.Y.) and junior Caroline Zaffino, Brown (Darien, Conn.) made the Second Team while junior Hafsa Moinuddin (Cheshire, Conn.) and senior Carolyn Paletta (Greenwich, Conn.) were picked Honorable Mention.
Hudgins, a three-time All-Ivy selection, earning Second Team honors in 2017 and Honorable Mention laurels in 2016, concludes her career with the Bears ranking second all-time in caused turnovers (79) and 10th in draw controls (88). The Syracuse, N.Y. native led the squad in caused turnovers this season (24) and was second in draw controls (49) and ground balls (28).
Mosenthal capped off her stellar rookie campaign ranking second in the Brown record book for single season goals with 55 goals. Her 64 points (55G, 9A) also ranked third best at College Hill. She ranked second in the conference in goals per game (3.67), sixth in points per game (4.27) and third in shots per game (6.53). Mosenthal recorded multiple points in all 15 games this season and had at least three goals in 12 contests.
In her second year, DeGennaro was second on the team in points with 50 (32G, 18A). Her 50 points were 10th best for a season at Brown while her 32 goals are tied 19th and her assists are the 12th highest. The Huntington, N.Y. native also led the team in game-winning goals (3) and ranked 10th in the Ivy League in both assists per game (1.20) and points per game (3.33).
In her first year with the Bears after transferring, Zaffino set the school record for draw controls in a season with 82. She tied DeGennaro for second on the team in goals scored (32) which is tied 19th all-time at Brown. In March, Zaffino was named Ivy League Offensive Player of the Week after recording team highs in points (14), goals (12) and draw controls (12) while leading the Bears to wins over Bryant (15-14) and Monmouth (20-10).
Moinuddin earns her second career All-Ivy honor after being named Second Team in 2017. The Cheshire, Conn. native led the program in assists with 20 while contributing 24 goals for 44 points, third best on the team. She was ninth in the conference with 1.33 assists per game. Her 20 helpers are 10th best in the single season record book. With one year still remaining at Brown, Moinuddin stands 16th in career points (109), 20th in career goals (69) and eighth in career assists (40).
Earning Honorable Mention honors for the second-straight year, Paletta wrapped up her two-year career at Brown after transferring tied for sixth all-time for career draw controls (93). This season, she recorded 22 goals and four assists while ranking third on the team in draw controls with 40.
