
Women's Water Polo's Dakan Wins CWPA Defensive Player of the Week

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown University women's water polo senior goalkeeper Marisol Dakan has won CWPA Defensive Player of the Week honors for the period of Mar. 26 to Apr. 1, the Collegiate Water Polo Association announced on Wednesday night.
A native of Pasadena, Calif., Dakan totaled 28 saves on a .509 save percentage last week as Brown went 3-2. She closed the week with 12 saves in a 10-3 win over Cal Lutheran. She made four saves and allowed just one goal in one half of play in a 9-3 win at Concordia.
Dakan gained Defensive Player of the Week accolades for the third time this season after taking the laurels on Feb. 9 and Mar. 29. For her career, she has garnered CWPA Defensive Player of the Week seven times.
Next, Brown hosts a pair of CWPA games on Friday, Apr. 6 against No. 13 Indiana (4:00 p.m.) and St. Francis (Pa.) (7:30 p.m.). The Bears then play No. 9 Michigan at Harvard on Saturday, Apr. 7 at 11:30 a.m. before hosting Conn. College on Sunday, Apr. 8 at noon.
