
Track & Field Hosts Springtime Invite

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown men's and women's track & field programs totaled 13 individual victories as the Bears hosted the Brown Springtime Invitational on Sunday in the final tune up before the Heptagonal Championships.
The women's team racked up seven individual victories on the track, including Alyssa Leto (Holbrook, N.Y.) in the 100 meters (12.68), Hannah Barakat (Los Angeles, Calif.) in the 200 meters (25.11), Gracie Whelan (Charlotte, N.C.) in the 400 meters (56.75), Clare Peabody (Aptos, Calif.) in the 800 meters (2:10.25), Samantha Valentine (Middleton, Wis.) in the 1,500 meters (4:40.62), Quinn Bornstein (Peacham, Vt.) in the 3,000 meters 10:13.85 and Calla Isaac (Sherwood Park, Alberta) in the 400-meter hurdles (1:03.92).
In the triple jump, rookie Felicia Renelus (Valley Stream, N.Y.) came out on top with a winning leap of 38-0.75.
On the men's side, sophomore Zachary Lanigan (Sydney, Australia) won the 800 meters as he held of Providence's Ryan Jendzejec with a time of 1:50.31. Franco Martins (Orlando, Fla.) captured first place in the 3,000 meters at 8:30.98 and Bretram Rogers (Grand Prairie, Texas) was victorious in the 110-meter hurdles in a time of 14:57.
In the field, Jason Katz (Wyckoff, N.Y.) topped the long jump with a winning leap of 22-7.75.
Next up, Brown will head to Philadelphia next weekend for the Ivy League Championships (May 5-6).
