
Women's Squash Team Banquet Honors Captains, Presents Awards and Announces Class of 2022

Providence, RI - The Brown women's squash team wrapped up its season with the Annual Squash Team Banquet at the Faculty Club with the announcement of team captains for 2018-19, the presentation of team awards and the announcement of the incoming Class of 2022.
Among several awards presented, the team and coaches recognized senior captains Lauren Kotin, Quincy Beck, Juniors Hannah Safford, Katrina Northrop for earning CSA Scholar-Athlete Awards which are awarded to upperclassmen who play 50% or more matches in the season and have a 3.5 GPA or above. Beck was also recognized as a Winter Academic All-Ivy recipient for 2017-18 - Beck's second such award.
Other awards presented at the team banquet included the Best Record at the Howe Cup which went to sophomore Scarlett Bergam, who went 3-0 at the tournament. The Most Improved Player Award went to two freshmen, Alexa Jacobs and Catherine Kimmel. The Melucci-Morphy Award and the Kate Brodsky Award were both awarded to senior Quincy Beck.
The team voted for the captains for the 2017-18 season, and the Bears will be led by rising seniors Katrina Northrop, Megha Poddar and Hannah Safford.
Head Coach Stuart le Gassick thanked senior captains Katherine Pisani, Lauren Kotin and Quincy Beck for their wonderful leadership and contributions to the Squash team over their four years on College Hill.
The Bears are looking forward to the arrival on campus of four freshmen: Abby Dichter, Lawrenceville School; Isabella Kearns, St. Ann's; Sara Syed, The Baldwin School; and Naomi Shamash, the Riverdale Country School.
The squash program is looking forward to the Graduation weekend this May. On Friday, May 25, 2018, the team will host an Alumni reunion in the late afternoon, between 5pm and 7pm, at the Pizzitola Squash Courts. We hope that we will see you there before the Campus Dance.
