Brown and Bryant Clash At Stevenson-Pincince Field On Tuesday Evening In Intra-State Match-up

Providence, R.I. – Brown plays its final non-league game of the season on Tuesday, April 24, hosting Bryant in the 10th meeting between the two Rhode Island universities at Stevenson-Pincince Field. All the action starts at 7:00 pm in a game broadcast on NESNplus and the Ivy League Network.
The Bears: Brown (5-7, 2-3 Ivy) looks to get back on the winning track following a 19-5 loss at #6 Cornell on Saturday. Ryan Aughavin '21 paced the Bears with his first two career goals.
The Bulldogs: Bryant (7-6) has won five of its last six games and is coming off a 13-8 win over Hobart last Saturday. The Bulldogs have wins over Manhattan (15-7), Hartford (15-10), Mt. St. Mary's (20-11), Sacred Heart (16-7), #13 Robert Morris (10-7) and Wagner (8-3), with losses to Bucknell (14-12), Providence (13-8), Boston U. (8-7 ot), #11 Yale (11-8), Drexel (12-9), and St. Joseph's (14-7).
The Brown-Bryant Series Record: Brown and Bryant have met nine times, dating back to 2009, with the Bears holding a 6-3 series advantage. Brown had won four of the last five meetings, including a 14-12 decision last year behind Jack Kniffin's four goals. In 2016, Bryant earned an 11-10 overtime win over the Bears at Stevenson-Pincince Field.
Ivy League Tournament Scenarios: A win over Dartmouth on Saturday will give the Bears a berth in the Ivy League Tournament at either the third or fourth seed. Additional Ivy Tournament scenarios are also possible for the Bears, depending on the outcomes of other games.
McCaleb on Attack: Sophomore attackman Luke McCaleb (Chevy Chase, MD), Brown's leading scorer with 40 points (21 goals, 19 assists), has registered at least one point in every game of his career, covering 28 games with 89 points. He netted two goals and handed out an assist vs. Providence and had a goal and an assist vs. #6 Yale. McCaleb scored a goal and had two assists vs. both Penn and Princeton, and had three goals and an assist against UMass. He paced the Bears in their win over Holy Cross with four goals and three assists. McCaleb had a goal and three assists in Brown's Ivy opener vs. Harvard, and scored three goals and handed out two assists in Brown's win over #4 Villanova. He had four goals and an assist in Brown's win over Stony Brook and added two goals and an assist vs. #15 Rutgers. McCaleb's 49 points last year were second on the Brown team and second all-time for a freshman at Brown, trailing only David Evans, who scored 53 points as a first-year player in 1993.
Ivy League Tournament: The four-team 2018 Ivy League Men's Lacrosse Tournament will be located at a neutral site, Robert K. Kraft Field at Lawrence A. Wien Stadium on the campus of Columbia University, with the semifinals on Friday, May 4, and the finals on Sunday, May 6.
Grell Earns Ivy League Rookie of the Week Honors: Freshman middy George Grell (Short Hills, NJ) posted his first career hat-trick, netting three goals in Brown's win over Penn. Grell scored a goal and had two assists vs. Providence and added a goal and an assist vs. #6 Yale. He was named the Ivy League's Rookie of the Week after having a major impact in Brown's key 14-13 Ivy League win over Princeton, registering four points by scoring two goals and adding two assists. Grell has nine goals and five assists on the season.
Ottens Facing-Off: Brown has one of the elite face-off men in the nation with the return of Second Team All-Ivy Ted Ottens '18 (Wilton, CT). He won 16-of-25 face-offs and picked up nine ground balls vs. #6 Cornell. Ottens, who had nine ground balls vs. Yale, is Brown's team leader with 83 ground balls, 11th nationally (6.73 per game). He captured the first nine face-offs vs. Penn and finished with 14-of-20 face-off wins and 11 ground balls against the Quakers. Ottens won 13-of-24 face-offs in the Bears win over Princeton. He captured 12-of-19 face-offs against Holy Cross, and won 14-of-23 face-offs in Brown's victory over #4 Villanova, while picking up nine ground balls. Ottens captured 14-of-23 face-offs vs. Harvard. He won 18-of-24 face-offs vs. Stony Brook, including 12 of the game's first 15 face-offs. Last year, Ottens captured 270-of-452 face-offs (.597) and scored seven goals off the face-off x.
Goss one of the Nation's Top Goalies: Goalie Phil Goss '20 (San Francisco, CA), who led the nation in saves (12.75 saves per game) in his rookie campaign, leads the Ivy League and ranks second nationally with 13.75 saves per game, while his save percentage (.537) ranks 16th in the nation. Goss made nine saves vs. Penn, including three in the last five minutes to preserve the victory. He registered 17 saves in Brown's win over Princeton. Goss registered 10 of his 18 saves in the second half against UMass, and had 11 saves in Brown's win over Holy Cross. Goss was named the Ivy League Player of the Week after Brown's 12-9 win over #4 Villanova, making 11 of his 17 saves in the second half, including six in the fourth quarter. He made 11 saves in Brown's opening game vs. Quinnipiac and added 10 more against Stony Brook. Goss exceled against #15 Rutgers with a season high 20 saves. Last year, he turned in several virtuoso performances with 20 saves in Brown's Ivy League Tournament win over Princeton and 19 saves against Rutgers and Penn.
Panepinto Finds the Back of the Net: Middy Michael Panepinto '19 (Needham, MA), Brown's leading goal scorer with 22 goals for the season, scored the game-winning goal against Princeton, finding the back of the net with 14 seconds remaining in Brown's 14-13 victory over the Tigers. He had two goals and one assist vs. Providence. Panepinto also netted two goals and handed out an assist vs. Penn. Panepinto scored three goals and handed out two assists in Brown's win over Holy Cross and added two goals and an assist vs. UMass. He had two goals vs. Harvard and netted two goals in Brown's win over #4 Villanova. Panepinto opened the season with two goals and two assists vs. Quinnipiac, and came back with three goals and one assist vs. Stony Brook. He had two goals and an assist vs. #15 Rutgers. Panepinto has been a mainstay of the Bears' midfield since his freshman season and registered 28 points (25 goals, 3 assists) last year, scoring goals in 15-of-16 games and registered hat-tricks vs. Stony Brook and Princeton.
Song – Bears Second Leading Scorer: Junior middy Carson Song's (San Francisco, CA) 34 points (15 goals, 19 assists) are second on the Brown squad. Song, who had a goal and an assist vs. Princeton and two assists vs. #6 Yale, scored a goal and handed out four assists vs. UMass. He netted three goals and handed out two assists in Brown's win over Holy Cross. Song scored a goal and handed out four assists vs. Harvard. He registered five goals and two assists in Brown's win over Stony Brook. Song added a goal and an assist vs. #15 Rutgers.

Hudak in the Midfield: Senior middy Stephen Hudak (Rydal, PA), an All-Ivy and All-New England selection a year ago, tossed in a season high four goals against Providence. He is Brown's fourth leading scorer with 24 points (18 goals, 6 assists). Hudak scored two goals vs. Penn, including the game-winner with just over five minutes remaining. He also netted two goals and added an assist vs. #6 Yale. Hudak had a big game vs. UMass with a season high four goals. He scored a goal and handed out an assist in games vs. Quinnipiac and Holy Cross. He added two goals vs. Stony Brook. Last year, Hudak was Brown's leading scorer from the midfield with 34 goals and nine assists for 43 points.
Miller on the Wing:. Senior LSM Jake Miller (Heartland, WI) returned to the lineup #6 Yale after missing a few games due to injury. Miller scored his seventh goal of the season and 20th career goal vs. #6 Cornell. He netted his fifth and sixth goals of the season against Holy Cross and UMass. He scored two goals, handed out an assist and picked up three ground balls in Brown's win over #4 Villanova. Miller also added a goal against Harvard. He ranks second on the Brown team with 26 ground balls. Miller is one of the top-scoring LSM in NCAA history, posting 28 career points, with 20 goals and eight assists.

Head Coach Mike Daly: Second-year head Brown lacrosse coach Mike Daly posted a 10-6 overall record in his initial season on College Hill and brought the Bears to the Ivy League Tournament championship game. He came to Brown after guiding the Tufts University men's lacrosse program to three NCAA National Championship titles while boasting the nation's highest scoring offense. Daly, the sixth Brown men's lacrosse coach since 1963, posted a record of 244-83 in 18 seasons as head coach at Tufts, with nine NCAA Tournament appearances and seven NESCAC titles. His Tufts teams won national championships in 2010, 2014 and 2015. Tufts led the nation in scoring in 2016 with 402 goals in 23 games for a 17.48 per game average. The Jumbos won their seventh consecutive NESCAC title and finished the year with a 20-3 record, falling in the National Championship game. Daly is among the top 10 active coaches for winning percentage and is in the top 20 for victories. A two time USILA F. Morris Touchstone National Coach of the Year (2010 and 2014), Daly's teams have won 20 or more games four times and made five appearances in the National Championship game. Daly oversaw a prolific Tufts offense that scored 423 goals in 2014 to set an NCAA record for a single season for all divisions.

Defensive Front: JJ Ntshaykolo '18 (San Francisco, CA), an All-Ivy selection, Max Gustafson '18 (Sherborn, MA), Alex Santangelo '19 (Medfield, MA) and LSM Jake Miller '18 (Heartland, WI) return in the defensive half of the field.
