
Women's Water Polo's Dakan Takes CWPA Defensive Player of the Week

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown University women's water polo senior goalkeeper Marisol Dakan has earned CWPA Defensive Player of the Week honors for the period of Apr. 9-15, the Collegiate Water Polo Association announced on Wednesday afternoon.
A native of Pasadena, Calif., Dakan totaled 47 saves on a .573 save percentage last week, tallying double-figure save efforts in three of her four games played. She made 10 saves in a 10-8 overtime win over No. 19 Harvard and stopped 13 shots in a 9-7 win over Bucknell. She turned aside nine shots at No. 11 Princeton and blocked 15 shots vs. George Washington.
Dakan gained Defensive Player of the Week accolades for the fourth time this season after taking the laurels on Feb. 9, Mar. 29, and Apr. 5. For her career, she has garnered CWPA Defensive Player of the Week eight times.
Next, Brown, the No. 7 seed for the Collegiate Water Polo Association Championship, will face No. 2 seed Michigan in the quarterfinals on Friday, Apr. 27 at 1:30 p.m. at Bucknell University's Kinney Natatorium in Lewisburg, Pa.
Before competing at the CWPA Championship, Brown will host a trio of exhibitions, welcoming the Puerto Rico National Team for contests on Friday, Apr. 20 at 5:30 p.m. and on Saturday, Apr. 21 at 10:45 a.m. and entertaining the New York Athletic Club on Apr. 21 at 2:30 p.m.
