PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown women's lacrosse team opens its two-game road stretch at Harvard on Saturday, April 14. Game time is set for 1:00 p.m. and will be broadcast on the Ivy League Network and NESNplus.

LAST TIME OUT
After trailing 13-8 in the second half, Brown rattled off six-straight goals which included the game winner from junior Caroline Zaffino to knock off No. 23 Cornell, 14-13, on Saturday, April 7 at Stevenson-Pincince Field. The victory marks the Bears' first over the Big Red since 1999, which was also a one-goal decision (12-11). Senior Carolyn Paletta led Brown in goals with four tallies on the afternoon while facing off against her two sisters on Cornell. Sophomore Emma DeGennaro also had a solid game with a career-high four assists while adding one goal. In net, senior Mikaela Karlsson entered midway through the second half and added a spark, stopping all five shots she faced in the contest.
BEAR LEADERS
Freshman Risa Mosenthal leads the Bears in points with 51, with a squad-best 44 goals and seven assists. Sophomore Emma DeGennaro has 40 points (26G, 14A) to rank second on the team in points while junior Hafsa Moinuddin in third with 36 points (18G, 18A). For draw controls, junior Zaffino has a team-high 70. Senior Marissa Hudgins paces the defense with 18 caused turnovers while sophomore Maggie Bigelow has started all 12 games between the pipes and has a 11.89 goals-against average and a 40.1 save percentage. Senior Mikaela Karlsson has appeared in six games in goal, totaling 75:21 minutes, a 9.56 GAA and a 53.8 save percentage.
MOSENTHAL LEADS THE WAY
Freshman Risa Mosenthal has had a great start to her collegiate career and has recorded a hat trick in 10 of the squad's 12 games on her way to 44 goals. The rookie's 3.67 goals per game average is third in the Ivy League while her 4.25 points per game are sixth. In the Brown record book, her 44 goals are fourth all-time for a single season output. The program record is 60 goals set by Brown Hall of Famer Suzanne Bailey '91 in 1991.
KARLSSON NAMED IVY LEAGUE DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
For her role in Brown's 14-13 comeback win over No. 23 Cornell on Saturday, senior Mikaela Karlsson was named Ivy League Defensive Player of the Week on Monday, April 9. The Framingham, Mass. native entered the contest with 18:37 remaining and stopped all five shots she saw while the Bears generated six unanswered goals. It is the second Defensive Player of the Week nod Brown has received this season, with sophomore Maggie Bigelow taking home the honor on April 2.
IT STARTS AT THE DRAW
Brown ranks seventh in the nation in draw controls, averaging 16.33 per game, which is second in the Ivy League behind Dartmouth (16.78). Junior Caroline Zaffino's team-high 70 this year rank first all-time for a single season at College Hill. Senior Marissa Hudgins is second on the squad in draw controls with 37.
LAST SEASON VS. HARVARD
Brown was defeated by Harvard, 19-12, on April 15 at Stevenson-Pincince Field. The Crimson went on two six-goal runs in the game, one in each half, to take the win. Sophomore Hafsa Moinuddin led the Bears in scoring on the day with a career-high seven points on three goals and four assists.
SCOUTING THE CRIMSON
Harvard is 4-8 on the season and is still looking for its first Ivy League win, standing at 0-4. The Crimson dropped two games last week, a 20-16 decision at Boston University on Wednesday and a 20-15 loss to No. 20 Princeton on Saturday, while they defeated UMass Lowell this Wednesday, 14-10. Julia Glynn leads Harvard in points with 74, and also leads the team in goals (53), assists (21 - tied with two other players) and draw controls (54). Keeley MacAfee is second in scoring with 64 points on 43 goals and 21 assists. Olivia Gundrum has started all 12 games between the pipes and has a 16.16 goals-against average and a 40.5 save percentage.
