
Women's Tennis Edges Yale, 4-3

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – After dropping the doubles point, the Brown women's tennis team came back to defeat Yale, 4-3, to open Ivy League play on Saturday at the Cullman-Heyman Tennis Center.
The Bulldogs posted the first win of the day in first double but Brown tied the match when senior Alyza Benotto (Los Angeles, Calif.) and sophomore Devon Jack (San Marino, Calif.) teamed up for a 6-2 win in second doubles. Yale claimed the point by edging Brown in the final match, 7-5.
Jack tied the match at 1-1 when she took third singles, 6-1, 6-2. Freshman Courtney Kowalsky (Oyster Bay, N.Y.) gave the Bears a 2-1 advantage with a 6-2, 6-2 victory in the sixth spot. Yale tied it up with a second singles win but Brown came back to put the match out of reach when junior Taylor Cosme (New Hyde Park, N.Y.) won fourth singles, 6-3, 7-6 (5), and Benotto picked up a hard fought 3-6, 6-4 7-6 (4) win in first singles to seal the match.
The Bears will next compete at Harvard on Friday, April 6 at 2:00 p.m. before returning home to host Dartmouth on Sunday, April 8 for a 12:00 p.m. match.
