
Women's Water Polo's Dakan Earns CWPA Defensive Player of the Week

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown University women's water polo senior goalkeeper Marisol Dakan has earned CWPA Defensive Player of the Week honors for the period of Mar. 19-25, the Collegiate Water Polo Association announced on Wednesday night.
A native of Pasadena, Calif., Dakan totaled 21 saves on a .525 save percentage last weekend as Brown went 3-1. She made 12 saves in a 9-8 overtime setback to Pomona-Pitzer. She stopped four shots and allowed just six goals in an 8-6 win over No. 25 Azusa Pacific.
Dakan gained Defensive Player of the Week accolades for the second time this season after taking the laurels on Feb. 9. For her career, she has garnered CWPA Defensive Player of the Week six times.
Next, Brown continues its eight-day, nine-game California trip today, Thursday, Mar. 29, with games against No. 14 Long Beach State (3:30 p.m. ET) and No. 12 Hartwick (10:30 p.m. ET). The Bears close their trip on Saturday, Mar. 31 with contests against Occidental (5:00 p.m. ET) and Cal Lutheran (7:30 p.m. ET).
