
Men's Crew Sweeps Boston University in Season Opener

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown men's crew swept all four races against Boston University, including the varsity eight race to take back the Michaelson Cup, as the Bears opened their spring season Saturday afternoon on the Seekonk River.
In the final race of the day, the varsity event for the Michaelson Cup, the Bears beat the Terriers by over five seconds in a time of 5:28.41. BU crossed at 5:33.99. Brown reclaimed the cup after BU won in Boston last season. Brown has now won four of the last five varsity races between the two schools.
The Bears earned a victory in the second varsity race in a time of 5:39.40, before the Terriers crossed at 5:42.22, and also won in the third varsity event in a time of 5:50.03.
Brown's fourth varsity boat won the first race of the day, defeating BU's fourth varsity at 5:56.64, while Brown also had a fifth varsity boat entered in the same race.
Brown will look to keep it going next weekend when the Bears visit Ivy League rival Yale in the annual battle for the Albert Cup.
