
Women's Tennis Overpowers Providence, 7-0

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown women's tennis team led Providence from start to finish and defeated the Friars 7-0 on Thursday at Pizzitola Sports Center.
Junior Katie Ta (Mission Viejo, Calif.) and sophomore Juliana Simon (Los Angeles, Calif.) opened with a 6-3 win in second doubles while freshman Semi Oloko (Canton, Mass.) and senior Alyza Benotto (Los Angeles, Calif.) also recorded a 6-3 victory in the third spot to earn the point and a 1-0 advantage.
Freshman Courtney Kowalsky (Oyster Bay, N.Y.) started the next round with a 6-0, 6-1 win in second singles for the Bears and was followed by junior Taylor Cosme (New Hyde Park, N.Y.) in the third spot (6-3, 6-0). Sophomore Devon Jack (San Marino, Calif.) next won 6-3, 6-1 in first singles while Ta (6-2, 7-5, fourth), freshman Peri Sheinin (East Greenwich, R.I.) (6-0, 6-0, fifth) and Oloko (6-4, 6-0, sixth) concluded the day's matches with wins.
The Bears next travel to Florida for spring break and will compete at South Florida on Sunday, March 25 and at No. 25 Central Florida on Tuesday, March 27. The match against the Bulls will begin at 12:00 p.m. while the match versus the Knights will start at 1:00 p.m.
