
Paul Leads Women's Track & Field at Indoor Heps

HANOVER, N.H. – Carly Paul (Fort Collins, Colo.) won an individual title in the pentathlon to lead the Brown women's track & field team on the final day of the Ivy League Indoor Track & Field Championships at Leverone Field House.
Penn captured the women's team title with 137 points, followed by Harvard (105), Dartmouth (96), Columbia (80), Cornell (75), Princeton (65), Brown (47) and Yale (15).
Paul claimed the pentathlon title on Saturday as she racked up 4,013 total points, beating out reigning champion Zoe Hughes of Harvard. She earned first place in both the high jump (5-10.50) and long jump (19-2) to secure the victory, becoming the first Bear to win the event since Natasha Smith in 2008.
In the field, Paul also earned third place in the high jump with a cleared height of 5-09.75 and secured a fifth-place finish in the long jump at 19-2.50 for 17 combined points.
Also in the field, Zion Lewis (Canton, Ga.) turned in a runner-up finish in the triple jump at 42-07.5 for the third-best leap in program history. Maxine Offiaeli (South Windsor, Conn.) was fifth overall in the weight throw with a toss of 56-03.25.
Senior Megan Ratcliffe (Carlisle, Mass.) placed second overall in the 5,000 meters as she crossed at 16:27.39 for fourth best all-time in school history. Lewis also posted a third-place finish in the 60 meters at 7.54.
The 4x800 meter relay team of Alexis Van Pernis, Bailey Pate, Samantha Valentine and Clare Peabody finished fourth in a time of 8:56.38.
