Women's Squash Beats Williams, 5-4, To Finish 11th in the nation at the Kurtz Cup National Team Championship

Boston, Mass. - Brown's women's squash team entered the Kurtz Cup National Team Championship as the nation's 13th ranked team. After defeating Williams, 5-4, on Sunday, a team who defeated the Bears two weeks ago, the Bears improved to 11th nationally.
Williams had come into the match ranked 11th in the nation and the Bears juxtaposed its position with the Ephs after the exciting match.
Playing number one, senior Quincy Beck needed to win for the Bears and capped off her brilliant Brown career with a 3-0 decision. Equally as thrilling was a 3-2 win by freshman Alexa Jacobs at two, saving four match balls down 2-1 to tie the match 2-2 in the fifth. Freshman Catherine Kimmel came up with an easy 3-0 win at number six.
Sophomore Scarlett Bergam and junior Hannah Safford were winners at seven and eight, respectively, and were the only team members to win all three matches. Bergam and Safford each captured 3-1 decisions.
