
Women’s Water Polo Announces Schedules for Spring Season, Bruno Classic

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown University women's water polo will host the 2019 CWPA Championship as well as the Bruno Classic, compete in three other tournaments, and play six CWPA regular season games as part of its 2019 spring schedule, Brown head coach Felix Mercado announced on Friday.

The Bears, ranked No. 24 in the final CWPA poll of 2018, open their season with the Bruno Classic from Feb. 1-3, while later taking part in the Princeton Invitational, Marist Invitational, and Harvard Invitational. Brown will host the 2019 edition of the Collegiate Water Polo Association Championship at the Katherine Moran Coleman Aquatics Center from Apr. 26-28.
Brown will play in six CWPA games during the regular season, squaring off against Harvard, Bucknell, Michigan, George Washington, Princeton, and St. Francis (Pa.).
The program begins competition at the Bruno Classic, hosting the event from Feb. 1-3 and meeting Wagner, La Salle, Marist, Cal Lutheran, and St. Francis Brooklyn. The Bears will play at the Princeton Invitational the following weekend (Feb. 9), facing Villanova and Iona.
After a bye weekend, Brown takes part in the Marist Invitational (Feb. 23-24), taking on Iona, St. Francis Brooklyn, Mercyhurst, and George Washington.
The Bears' first conference game of the year comes at Harvard on Mar. 1 before the Bears play in one final in-season tournament at the Harvard Invitational (Mar. 2-3), meeting UC Davis, Cal Baptist, Gannon, and Iona.
Brown makes its annual trip to California for spring recess from Mar. 23-30. During their time in the Golden State, the Bears will take on Chapman, Whittier, Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, Concordia, Long Beach State, La Verne, Cal Baptist, and UC San Diego.
Returning to the East Coast, the Bears play in a league weekend at Harvard (Apr. 6), squaring off with Bucknell and Michigan before closing conference play with a league weekend at Bucknell (Apr. 13-14), facing George Washington, Princeton, and St. Francis (Pa.).
The regular season concludes with a home Senior Day match-up against Marist on Apr. 20.
Brown will host the 2019 Collegiate Water Polo Association Championship from Apr. 26-28 at the Katherine Moran Coleman Aquatics Center with the winner of the tournament claiming the league's automatic berth into the NCAA Championships.
