"We have to play a whole lot more physical," said Brown head coach Phil Estes. "On defense, we gave up too many third down conversions, especially on third and long. Offensively, we didn't finish off drives and took too many sacks."
Yale's high-powered offense racked up 598 total yards, while Brown had 331 total offensive yards.
Bears' sophomore quarterback Michael McGovern (St. Louis, MO) threw for a career high 358 yards, completing 25-of-47 passes and one touchdown.
McGovern's two favorite targets were sophomore wide receiver Scott Boylan (Bakersfield, CA), who grabbed nine receptions for 116 yards and a touchdown, while also rushing for a touchdown, and senior tight end Anton Casey (Bethesda, MD), who made six catches for 92 yards.
Junior Brendan Pyne (Bradenton, FL) paced the Bears' defense with 10 tackles, including eight solo stops and a tackle for loss. Freshman Clayton Perrin (Pflugersville, TX) and senior Daniel Aidman (Austin, TX) both contributed with nine tackles. Freshman Jason Medeiros (Rehoboth, MA) also played well with seven solo tackles, eight overall, and a tackle for loss.
Griffin O'Connor made his first collegiate the start for Yale and passed for 436 yards and four touchdowns, completing 30-of-38 passes. Alan Lamar paced the Yale rushing attack
Yale scored on its first possession following an interception, driving 69 yards in six plays, capped off by a one yard touchdown run by Alan Lamar with 9:48 left in the first quarter. The Bulldogs went up 14-0 after one quarter when JP Shohfi made a one-handed six-yard touchdown grab, capping an 81 yard touchdown drive.
After Yale extended its lead to 20-0, Brown got on the scoreboard with a 32-yard field goal by Dylan Brady (Rancho Santa Margarita, CA) to trail, 20-3 at the half.
The Bulldogs went up by a 27-3 margin when Lamar scored on a six yard third quarter run.
Brown cut the Yale lead to 27-9 when McGovern connected on a 53- yard scoring pass to Boylan, who caught the ball at the Bulldogs 40 yard line and ran the rest of the way untouched into the end zone with 7:32 left in the third quarter.
Yale's offense continued to gain yardage on its next three possessions to build a 46-9 lead with 5:35 left in the game.
Brown completed the scoring with a two-yard Boylan touchdown run with 3:16 left on the clock, capping a 71 yard drive
Brown returns home on Saturday, November 10 to face Columbia on Senior Day in its final home game of the 2018 season. Kick-off is 12:00 noon at Brown Stadium in a game televised on NESN-plus.
