PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown women's lacrosse team returns to Stevenson-Pincince Field and will host Harvard on Saturday, April 15 in a 1:00 p.m. contest.

LAST TIME OUT
Brown chipped away at No. 8/8 Cornell's lead in the second half and pulled within two, but the Big Red made two key saves in the closing minutes and added a goal for an 11-8 win on Saturday at Schoellkopf Field. Brown scored four goals with under 15 minutes remaining in the game to inch within two of Cornell (11-8) but the Big Red's Renee Poullott made two crucial stops in goal and Catherine Ellis secured a win with a free-position goal at 1:28. Sophomore Carolyn Paletta led the Bears in scoring with three tallies.
LAST YEAR VS. HARVARD
Harvard picked up an 8-2 win at Harvard Stadium on Saturday, April 9. In a low scoring first half, the Crimson headed into the break with a 2-0 lead, scoring early in the period and then at the closing. Harvard opened the second with two goals before Brown netted its first score. The Crimson would only allow one more Brown goal while scoring four to claim the victory. Senior Jillian Lee and sophomore Hafsa Moinuddin netted tallies for Brown.
SCOUTING THE CRIMSON
Harvard is 7-5 on the year (3-1 Ivy League) and coming off a 17-6 win over UMass Lowell on Tuesday, April 11. The Crimson have posted Ivy wins over Yale (14-13, March 4), Columbia (10-8, March 25) and Dartmouth (17-12, April 2) and their lone loss coming at No. 7/7 Princeton (20-5, April 8). Harvard is led by Marisa Romeo who has 57 points on the season with team-highs in goals (38) and assists (19). Entering the week Romeo ranked third in the conference in goals, assists and points per game. Keeley MacAfee is Harvard's second leading scorer with 28 goals and five assists for 33 points. Meredith Brown has appeared in 12 games in net for the Crimson and has recorded a 11.53 goals-against average and a .392 save percentage for a 6-5 record. Harvard ranks first in the league in caused turnovers (11.18 per game) and second in draw controls (14.27 per game).
BROWN LEADERS
The Bears offense is powered by sophomore Hafsa Moinuddin, who has 28 points on 22 goals and six assists. Sophomore Carolyn Paletta leads the team in goals with 24 and ranks second on the squad in scoring (26), adding two assists. Sophomore Zoe Verni (16G, 2A) is third on the Bears in scoring. Junior Marissa Hudgins is Brown's caused turnover leader with 24 and also paces the Bears in ground balls with 35 on the year. Junior Mikaela Karlsson has started nine games in net and has an 8.07 goals-against average and a .536 save percentage. Freshman Maggie Bigelow recorded her first-career win against Cal on March 29 and then started her first game versus San Diego State (March 31). In five games played with two starts, the rookie has totaled a 10.76 GAA this season along with a .484 save percentage.
HUDGINS BOLSTERS THE BEARS' DEFENSE
Junior Marissa Hudgins leads the Bears defensively and ranks second in the conference in caused turnovers (2.18 per game) and fourth in ground balls (3.18). Nationally, the Syracuse., N.Y. native ranks 17th in caused turnovers and 22nd in ground balls. Brown's defense as a whole rank 14th in the country in scoring defense, allowing just 8.82 goals per game.
