
Women's Water Polo's Burns Wins CWPA Defensive Player of the Week

BRIDGEPORT, Pa. – Brown University women's water polo freshman goalkeeper Lauren Burns has earned CWPA Defensive Player of the Week honors for the week of Mar. 20-26, the Collegiate Water Polo Association announced on Friday.
A native of Long Grove, Ill., Burns tallied 39 saves with a .672 save percentage last week to help lead Brown to a 4-1 week with wins over Connecticut College, Occidental, Redlands, and Claremont-Mudd-Scripps.
She made 12 saves and allowed just five goals in a 12-5 win over Occidental. She stopped seven shots and gave up just two goals in an 11-2 win over Redlands and turned aside eight shots while permitting just two goals in a 9-2 win over Claremont-Mudd-Scripps.
Brown concludes its seven-day, nine-game trip in the state of California with a game against Concordia University Irvine today, Friday, Mar. 31, at 4:30 p.m. ET. The Bears return to play on the East Coast at Conn. College on Wednesday, Apr. 5 at 7:30 p.m.
