
Women's Rugby Finishes Third at Ivy Championship with 62-25 Win Over Princeton

PRINCETON, N.J. – The Brown women's rugby team finished third in the Ivy Championship with a 62-25 win over Princeton on Saturday afternoon.
The Tigers were the first to score in the match and went up 5-0 early in the stanza. Brown was next awarded a penalty try and freshman Olivia Duba (San Ramon, Calif.) converted the kick. The Bears took a 14-5 lead when junior Louise Leitao (Porto Alegre, Brazil) used her speed to sprint in for a score while Duba again converted a kick.
Freshman Marion Sellier (Palo Alto, Calif.) next put in a try for Brown and later senior Beth Clifton (Attleboro, Mass.) recorded a score to propel the Bears to a 24-5 lead. Freshman Karina Wang (Ottawa, Ontario) next put down a try after junior Dylan Jack (Pasadena, Calif.), Duba and sophomore Jenna Soenksen (Encinitas, Calif.) all pushed hard toward the try zone. Duba made the kick to bring the score to 31-5.
To close out the opening half, freshman Janelys Torres (Lawrence, Mass.) and Leitao contributed tries and Duba ended with a kick for a 43-5 lead at the break.
Junior Elise Hinkle (Sudbury, Mass.) started the second half scoring and Duba again converted a kick for a 50-5 Brown advantage.
Princeton got back on the board to bring the score to 50-10 but Sellier would register her second try of the outing for a 57-10 advantage with another kick from Duba. Princeton responded with a try to bring its total to 15.
Clifton next recorded her second try when she plowed over the Tigers' defense to bring the Bears advantage to 62-15. Princeton would add two more tries before the final whistle to bring the game to 62-25.
