
Women's Hockey Defeated by No. 10 Robert Morris, 3-2, with Last Second Goal

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - With the score tied 2-2 and time winding down in the third period, Natalie Fraser lifted No. 10 Robert Morris past the Brown women's hockey team, 3-2, with a diving shot with two seconds remaining in regulation at Meehan Auditorium on Saturday afternoon.
The Bears overcame their shutout loss the day before and battled the 10th-ranked Colonials from start to finish. Brown (0-2-0) carried a 2-1 lead from the first period until the third when Amber Rennie tied it at 7:21 for the Colonials.
Sophomore Veronica Alois (Andover, Mass.) registered Brown's first goal of the game and of the 2017-18 season at 3:29 of the first period while on the power play. Following a faceoff while on the power play, sophomore Alley Rempe (Calgary, Alberta) pushed the puck from the right faceoff circle to freshman Kaitijane Blumberg (Bloomfield Hills, Mich.) in front who flicked it behind to Alois for the go-ahead score.
Shortly after the Bears increased their lead to two when senior Sam Donovan (New Brighton, Minn.) got on the scoring column with a tally. Sophomore Maybelline Beiring (Calumet, Mich.) gathered the puck and got it ahead to sophomore Sena Hanson (New Brighton, Minn.) who passed it to Donovan at center ice. Donovan skated contested by two defenders to goal where RMU goalie Lauren Bailey got a piece of the puck on Donovan's initial attempt, but the assistant captain stuck with it and collected the puck from the side of the net and wristed it in.
Robert Morris (5-1-0) quickly countered on the ensuing faceoff and pulled within one with a score from Brittany Howard 10 seconds later (9:37).
In a penalty filled first period, that included one four-on-four goal (Donovan) and a shorthanded score (Howard), Brown went 1-for-3 on the power play while RMU was shutout by the Bears, going 0-for-2.
Sophomore Calla Isaac (Sherwood Park, Alberta) was big in goal for Brown, recording 15 stops in the opening frame. Lauren Bailey made four on the other side of the ice and Elijah Milne-Price entered midway through the stanza to make five saves.
The second period was a stalemate as the Bears carried their 2-1 lead into the final period. Robert Morris was whistled for three penalties in the period but Brown was unable to convert on the power play. The Bears again closed the door on RMU's special teams, killing both infraction called against them. Isaac upped her save total to 27 while Elijah Milne-Price turned away six shots.
Robert Morris' offense surged at the beginning of the third and was able to get the tying goal at 7:21 from Amber Rennie. With the game looking like it was going into extra time, Fraser gave the Colonials the 3-2 win with a goal at 19:58.
Isaac concluded the contest with a career-high 48 saves while Milne-Price finished with 14 stops, three coming in the third.
Brown will next hit the road for the first time this season and compete in ECAC games at Union on Friday, Oct. 27 and at Rensselaer on Saturday, Oct. 28. Both contests will begin at 3:00 p.m.
